Ongoing operations at YZF support a total of 1,480 jobs and over $160 million in wages in NWT, when multiplier impacts are included. Of this employment, 1,000 jobs are directly related to the airport. Because employment related to the ongoing airport operations extends far beyond YZF, the total also includes both indirect (approximately 300 jobs) and induced (180 jobs) employment in the territory. 

The significance of the airport is demonstrated by the direct economic impact of the airport on gross domestic product (GDP) and economic output in NWT, measured at over $220 million and nearly $600 million, respectively. Including indirect and induced impacts, the total provincial GDP and economic output impacts are approximately $316 million and over $750 million, respectively.
